Problem during installation of Solaris 2.6

Hello,
For testing purpose, I need to install SOLARIS 2.6 on a machine SUN FIRE 880 which is installed with Solaris 2.8.
When I boot on the cdrom 2.6, the system answers :
boot : cannot open /kernel/unix
In the documentation, I saw that I need to reset the boot file value in the PROM. I did it but it does not work better.
Is there a hardware problem with this version of Solaris ?
Thanks for your help.

looking on the support matrix, the minimum OS version for a v880 would be Solaris 8 - 7/01. see: sunsolve

solaris provides kernel images for each processor type and platform specific drivers on the install media. solaris 6 is 10 years old? at that time sun solaris didn't know anything about US-III and the v880, that's why you don't find a kernel image for that mashine... you will have to use a newer solaris for that mashine
