Sun Fire V440 and Patch 109147-39

Got an curious issue.

I applied 109147-39 to, oh 15 or so various systems all running Jumpstarted Solaris 8. When I hit the first two V440s, they both failed with Return code 139. All non shell commands segfaulted from then on.

The patch modified mainly the linker libraries and commands.

I'm curious as to why it broke on just the V440s. Since they're all jumpstart installations, they should all have similar configurations.

Side Note and question:

I booted the Solaris 8 CD, broke the mirror, backed off the changed files and copied the ones from the CD to the server.

Worked great on the second box but the first one halted at the Hardware Watchdog Enabled text. No indication as to why. I used the second mirror and brought the system back up.

Because of the full debugging, it took most of the day though (9:30am to 6:40).

Thanks.

Carl
