i have a sun 280R server , that reboots randomly .

i have checked for hardware failures but none can be seen .

But there is something i notice for the proceeses is that there is a processes that always found to be a "Zombie" even after a system reboot .

if the reboots are consistently happening at certain times ... i'd check for processes going on right before those times --- probably do a "ps -ef > /not_tmp_dir/file" --- and see if something is rebooting the box ... also, i'd check for errors and/or warnings on all the log files ... check root cron jobs too ...

if the reboots are inconsistent ( and/or var/adm/messages is clear and/or no "freak" processes are rebooting the box) and if the box is conected to a UPS unit ... i'd look at the UPS unit and anything else connected to the power supply ...
