Ultra 30/60
Not necessarily a Solaris question, but thought this the best place for it.
My main Linux/OpenBSD workstation (really old athlon) is on its way out, and I am considering getting an Ultra 30 or 60 to replace it with. If I go with a dual proc 60 I'll get SMP support on Linux. Most systems I've seen for sale come with an 18GB disk - I need more space than this so I plan on getting a new disk to go with it. According to a post on USENET most sized SCSI disks will work. Is this true? I'm planning on getting a 73GB disk if possible (Maxtor Atlas III) Any advice would be much appreciated. Warmest regards, DT |

What Linux distro are you running on UltraSparc? I didn't know SMP support was available yet. I have had success with OpenBSD 3.2 on an Ultra1. As far as the disk, I've never used a SCSI disk larger that 36GB. As long as the bus is compatible, I would think it would be fine.
