solaris 9 intel installtion problem

Hi im trying to install solaris 9 Intel and when i insert the installation cd, i run threw all the steps and when it goes and configure the system it fails with this error

cannot mount root on /pci@0,0/pci-ide@2.1/ide@1/sd@0,0"a fstype ufs


panic[cpu]/thread=fec29020" vfs_mountroot: cannot mount root


What is this problem, can someone please help. I am using the Installtion cd and disk 1.

this is stressful PLS HELP

altho i havent installed solaris on x86 in years.

1) the first step i would do is fdisk the machine you are trying to install on.

2) clear the mbr.

3) try installing solaris again.

sounds like you are not getting very far in the installlation, if you are only getting to the network configuration section of the install.
