ST6140 Volume Expansion ?

Dear Friends, we have one ST 6140 storage in our data center.The structure is like that, virtual disk vdisk(RAID-5) was created using 7 hard disks and the vdisk is divided in to 4 volumes each have 1TB of size.These 4 volumes are mapped to solaris 9 server and created RAID 0 using SVM and is mounted to /data have size of 4TB which is having critical data....

Now we need to expand the capacity of /data...we have 5 vacant slots in storage.. Is it possible to expand the LUN with out losing the data? If we expand the size of any LUN, it will affect the RAID 0 created under SVM? Please help..

You still need to backup your data in these type of cases even though the documentations say you can do it online w/o losing data. Its A MUST. You should not take anything for granted.

Like these;;;
Bug 6258674 - You should not perform volume operations, such as volume resizing, until volume initialization is complete. The Sun StorageTek 6140 Array can hang if volume resizing operations are done before a volume is initialized.

Bug 6415976 - Volumes on expansion trays are failed by the controller when all access to the expansion tray is lost. A failed volume cannot be recovered even after power to the expansion tray is restored.

Dynamic reconfiguration -- Volume expansion, RAID migration, capacity expansion, segment size migration, volume/virtual disk reconfiguration, controller firmware upgrades

please do document your action plan. do post it for others to learn to, about your experience. good luck!
