SNMP Traps

Hi all,

lately i managed to install SNMP agent on Solaris 9 & 10. The second objective is now to configure traps. However (since i'm totally new to the SUN world) i don't know a way of how to start. Can somebody help me with details? What is the first thing that you need to do to start trapping?

After the SNMP was installed, i manged to load graphs on CACTI (the default values), but i want to start into traps, but i don't have any idea from were to start.
Your help will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

you need several of the sun (depending on the hardware as well) mib files. these files will have sections for NOTIFICATIONS and TRAPS. in a NMS like opennms, these need to be parsed out into a xml file for opennms to be able to translate traps coming into the event bus. not sure how cacti works but it follows the same logic.
