Copying Files and

I am new user to solaris and installed solaris operating system on full Harddisk 120Gb. I am unable to copy music files to desktop and /home directory.

One thing happened while registering is- i entered login-root and its password. The message prompted your system is crashed. Is it because of it.

Also when I opened song files with rhythmbox music player and browsed path for cdrom it started and as song is playing it prompted message application crashed.

can you pls let me know wat can I do- to get file copied, register solaris, and play music files.

What GUI are you using? Who are you logged in as when you try to copy to desktop, and how are you doing it? Same with /home, normally only root can write to /home.
