It was embedded in inetd. This gives an example: hubertf's NetBSD blog Not sure how this translates to smf, but there are man pages and web pages on how to do inetd.conf things with inetadm.

Thanks, I looked into them already but there all dead ends I compiled a mux file and it seamed to work but its missing a timer event so my legacy program still dont run I removed the mux connection error with the file but still get mux timer issue due to the mux file not having a timer.

any ideas how to find a fully working mux server with timer event?

I suppose you could port open source inetd and run that on modified file names. What sort of event are you timing? Did you try configuring a mux ftp like they described?
