If you have liberty of second free disk in the backup server, then I would suggest to clone the original disk first before attempting upgrade. That will save lots of hassle if things dont go as planned.
Second free disk, what is this concept?

Any idea , please explain.

Sorry i am replying too late.

I think he wants you to have a clone so that if dive0, with your OS & NetBackup, have issues you with the upgrade. You can then boot from drive1 with the old setup. Much less down time this way.

I was with Symantec Netbackup team for quite sometime now. Here are the steps you should do

- Verify and confirm the Netbackup 7.5 compatibility with the Host OS,its hardware.
- Stop any backup jobs.
- Suspend the scheduling.
- Add the 7.5 License Key

- Untar the package you have downloaded.
- Check for Catalog Consistency (*optional - you have to do nbcc with their support)

- Start installation. There are 2 phases to this. Phase1 & Phase2.

Let me know how it goes

Also when you untar, please use *gtar instead of regular tar.
There were issues with 7.1 when attempted to untar using regular tar command.
