Unplug power from Sparc Server T5440 when in OpenBoot

show /HOST command shows that

status = OpenBoot Running

when in this state, can the power be unplugged from the server ?

we are unable to bring the status to "powered off". Even if we issue "stop /SYS" it will momentarily be in the powered off status and then go back to power on status automatically.

Any help would be much appreciated.

You would not normally unplug power from a server in this way.

Really drastic action (ie, emergency power down) is normally done by:

1. Press and release the power button. This will tell the hardware and O/S to close down in an orderly manner.

If that fails then......

2. Press and hold the power button in for 4 seconds. That should kill it.
