Solaris Attribute Problems

When I modify the file attributes of files and run a ls -l to view the changes everything looks correct, however when I run the init 6 to reboot the server the file attributes devert back to the origininal read only permissions. Any help would be appreciated

Clearly something in the startup scripts reset it.

1. what file(s) are we talking about?
2. Exactly what OS
3. What additional security software do you have configured?

it is an older version of Solaris that runs on a Sun VT100 box

however upon reboot I am getting the same errors on the LOM interface
(see entire log below)
