Solaris SAN configuration.

HI All,
What are IPFC(Internet Protocol over Fibre channel) SAN devices.
What all i got from guide is
"Configuring IPFC over host system describes host recognition of IPFC devices and implementation of IP over FC in SAN"

What does above statement actually mean. I would appreciate detailed explanation if any on IPFC devices.

Thanks in advance

It is very simple - it means 'using the fibre channel protocol over an internet connection instead of over fiber channel', like iSCSI uses internet instead of a direct SCSI connection.

If your boss wants this to save money, be careful. We have both. There are some serious issues with OS drivers e.g. solaris scsi_vhci
