What are Solaris 9 & 10 Sparc Editions worth?
My Sparc servers disappeared in my last move. I found my Sparc software in the basement yesterday, Solaris 9 9/04 Operating Environment, Java Enterprise System, Accessory Software, and License are all sealed, box is opened. Also have Solaris 10 but in opened sleeves with Sun Office for Sparc. Ebay sold a sealed copy of Solaris 8 for $40 recently, and found a sealed copy of 9 on Craigslist in California for $100, is there any other place I can go online to get an idea of the value? Thank you.

They are only worth what a person is willing to pay in an arms length transaction. Nothing more, nothing less. Ebay completed listings is probably the best place to get an idea of their worth.

There is only one Solaris 9 Sparc completed listing and it went for $50. I don't see anything in the rules prohibiting selling items here. Anyone interested in Solaris 9 9/04 Sparc box set and Solaris 10 Sparc (CDs only) and Sun Office for Sparc? How about $50 for all of it, and $10 for shipping?

Running Solaris Sparc Apps on X86 Solaris

I know that Sun make s a version of Solaris for Sparc platforms and also an x86 (Intel/AMD) release of Solaris. Can an application that runs on Solaris/Sparc also run on a PC running the x86 release of Solaris? Would a different release be required or any re-compling of the application? jim (1 Reply)
