inbuilt modem problem

when I use the on-board modem.........and I dial in I get the login prompt
when I enter id and password it gives..........invalid login....

i hv sun fire 280R system

pls help me urgently........i m frustated

what user are you trying to login as? root remote logins are usually disabled by default.

have you already installed and configured the rsc packages?

otherwise i would look at the norsk hedensk's tip:
# vi /etc/default/login
there :
# If CONSOLE is set, root can only login on that device.
# Comment this line out to allow remote login by root.
#
# CONSOLE=/dev/console

I VE ALREADY MODIFIED THE /etc/default/login file........still i m facing the same problem
