NIC cards for sunblade 100

I need to add a PCI NIC to a sunblade 100 running solaris 8. Im new to this and was hoping someone could give me some card names and models which will work for this system and has a driver for this sparc system.

thanks

Your best bet to ensure compatibility is to go to http://store.sun.com and look up the available network cards for your system. You can also dig around Sunsolve.sun.com to find older part numbers. You can either buy them from Sun, a reseller, or some other 3rd party like Ebay. Although Sun uses PCI, not all PCI cards will work with Solaris.

TioTony is correct about pci's working with SUN but I doubt you can find your system at store.sun.com since it's End Of Life.

His suggestion of buying from 3rd party (if SUN can't help) would work well - make sure you ask if any supporting cd (which would have the drivers on it) is with the card.

Hi Guys,
http://store.sun.com has more then you think. You can buy parts for all sorts of old Sun hardware, you just can't usually buy the entire system. I see several cards listed for the Blade 100 under the "Spare Parts" section of the store. We have purchased a few power supplies for Ultra 5's recently as we have been plaqued with several failures. The only issue is the cost. The power supplies aren't bad but things like CPUs cost several times more then a replacement box. Last I checked an Ultra 5/10 CPU was $1600. You can get 2 V100s for that price and they will be faster. Good luck with your parts,
TioTony
