FTP Authentication through shell script.
Hi All,
My intention is to get file from the remote server, the following scripts works fine, but once if we give worng password it displays the err msg in the console, then it proceeds the further steps, I would like avoid this. I would like to do the authendication before doing FTP. If the password is wrong I would like to show the proper msg then exit the program with out executing other steps. If anyone have idea kindly share it with me. HOST='hostname' echo "Enter your test user id" read testid echo "Enter your password" stty -echo read passwd stty echo ftp -n $HOST <<END_SCRIPT quote USER $testid quote PASS $passwd cd /usr/sarwan get a.sh bye END_SCRIPT other steps. Thanks Sarwan |
