sql plus report under unix environment

Hi i am creating a report with file format csv using sql plus commands under unix environment. I am sending this report using mailx command to excel spread sheet. when i opened the report my columns are merged. I need to manually pull each column to see whole column results. Is there any way in unix to format the columns. to its actual length of results.
the reason i am using csv fomat is i wrote sql select query to retrieve the data from oracle DB. when i send the results to csv file format to excel it automatically formats. Every thing is comming is good except
darg the columns to see whole column.

how to format in unix of sql select query results.
columns are name, status, begin,end,date
i need to see whole results of the query in excel with out manullay drag the columns.
pl help me
N.
