sort syslog messages

how can i sort the syslog message, so that the lastest time stamp show first , oldest show last.

The syslog on most systems writes to a file, and since all events are written in the order in which they occurred, you will always get the latest messages at the end of the file.

You could use sort to get the file in the reverse order (the date/time at which the message was posted is always part of every entry).

Tested on Solaris 8.
