can any one explain the meaning of the below code ?


Code:
while getopts :g:l:h: KEY $*
do
   case $KEY
   in
       g) NAME=$OPTARG ;;
       l) LAB=$OPTARG ;;
       h) HD=$OPTARG ;;
       *) echo "Illegal option: $OPTARG"
          echo "$usage"
          exitStatus=1
          exitGrace
   esac
done
