I'm not sure that I understand the question.

HardFeed copies stuff to the current directory. I did not bother to test that the current directory exists.

When it's recursing, it must verify the existence of each subdirectory. That is done in the beginning of the function process_remote_directory.

Question

when I get you script in and try to run it it get this:

$ ./HardFeed -rsd -l "ls -ls" server ftpuser /dir
password -
rdir = /dir
./HardFeed[111]: octal=binary: bad number
./HardFeed[111]: octal=binary: bad number

what do I need to do?

HardFeed is having trouble parsing the directory listing. What kind of server are you connecting to? Why did you use -l "ls -ls"? If it's a microsoft box, follow the suggestions in the script's comments. If it's something other than a unix server, it may not work without revisions. It works unix to unix. And I made an effort for some microsoft support, testing it on an NT box. Other than that, you're pretty much on your own. Run ftp manually, and post the directory listing that you're trying to parse. There may be something I can do, but no promises.

I am trying to pull the stuff off a W2K with IIS running an FTP server.

I can change it to show unix listing like this:

ftp> ls -l
227 Entering Passive Mode ~~~
125 Data connection already open; Transfer starting.
-rwxrwxrwx 1 owner group 0 Jan 19 15:09 AUTOEXEC.BAT

Anything would help, I really think that this script works great, but just need a little help on getting the arguments place in the command line to get it running.

Thanks,

Jonathan

I don't a W2K box for testing. If "ls -l" gives you a unix listing, why are instructing HardFeed to use "ls -ls"? Try using -l "ls -l". You haven't answered my question as to why you went with "ls -ls".

What happens when you use the
-l "ls -la" -x "quote site dirstyle"
that I mention in the comments to HardFeed?

That might have been a typo on my part.

That is proably why it is not working corectly. I will have to try just "ls -l" and see what happens.

Thanks,

Hi Perderabo,
Excellent script.

I found one issue though:
When the directory name contains a space, some recursion error occurs and the script goes into an endless loop.

eg: "Directory with spaces"
