Shell Programming and Scripting

I get
ksh: filename=${$each#*-}: bad substitution
error when I run the following. I am trying to parse the file,
for example: abc-90878.csv



if [ -f *.csv ] ; then
for each in *.csv
do
filename=${$each#*-} #Separate the name at -
filextn=${$each##*.} #Get the extention
datestrng=`date +%Y%m%d` #Get the current date
mv $each ${filename%.*}"_"${datestrng%?}"."${filextn}
done
else
echo "No .csv file are available to ftp"
exit
fi


Could someone please tell me why I am getting the error.

You don't need the the extra $s in there. filename=${each#*-} is enough to strip off everything up to and including the first "-".
