Shell Programming and Scripting

Hello everybody
I need help calling sql file from shell script.
Can anyone help me creating a small shell script which calls an sql file .

The .sql file should contain some select statements like
select emp_no from emp_table;
select emp_id from emp_table;

And the results should be displayed in the shell script.

Depends entirely on which operating system and which database type.

OK, I guess you want a step-by-step example.

Assuming you are on a UNIX or Linux box ......

First save the following script in a file called "/tmp/emp.sql".

CONNECT dummy/need_help
SPOOL /tmp/emp.lst
SELECT emp_no, emp_id
FROM emp_table;
SPOOL OFF
EXIT;

Then create the following shell script and save as /tmp/emp.ksh

#!/bin/ksh
sqlplus /nolog @/tmp/emp.sql

Then make the shell script executable

chmod u+x /tmp/emp.ksh

And execute as

/tmp/emp.ksh

I was expecting a line by line script . That i what i see. And thanks a lot... again
