using the wall or write cmd
Hi all,

i'm trying to generate a "pop up window" incorporating either the write or wall command or both.

Is such a thing possible ?

Never tried doing that sort of thing but I suppose you could do it as long as you knew the IP addresses of everyone connected to your server. Though not sure how (or really why) you would want to do this. Whats wrong with wall? or shutdown -k?

our flavour of hp-ux 10.20 is running underneath another s/w system. So I'd like to send messages to to them when I finish troubleshooting remotely.

sed command works from cmd line to standard output but will not write to file

Hi all .... vexing problem here ... I am using sed to replace some special characters in a .txt file: sed -e 's/_<ED>_/_355_/g;s/_<F3>_/_363_/g;s/_<E1>_/_341_/g' filename.txt This command replaces <ED> with í , <F3> with ó and <E1> with á.
