Question Installation of SCO OS on a assembled Pentium IV system

Hi
I have been trying to install SCO OS 5.0.6 on my home PC Which has P-IV 1.7Ghz Processor 128 MB DDR ram, 20 GB HDD . However the system do boots from the cd shows the boot: prompt ............. there when i press enter key the process of loading starts but soon after that the screen goes blank the cursor keeps blinking n the system hangs up with no further process. I am blank too as the same cd n hdd work on A celeron system . Anybody who can , Pls let me know as to what could be the solution to this problem n how is it to be performed

I've never personally installed SCO Unix, but I've heard that it's very picky about it's hardware.

For a legacy data-migration project I am aware of at work, for example, one of the groups was trying to build a second SCO box with the same software as the current (very very old) box, for testing purposes. In order to run it on an old PII they found in storage a patch had to be applied.

Now, I'm sure you're using a more current version than that, but you may run into the same issues. You may need to contact SCO support, if you're signed up with a contract.

well can you let me know as to what kinda patches are reqd. to install sco unix on your pc

You should look at the info on PCUNIX for info on installation, links to hardware supported, patches needed...
