Hi Guys,

Thank you for ur replies. I figured out what the problem was. Solaris was detecting "Xircom Pocket Ethernet parallel port card" when it was booting. But my laptop never had this NIC card...

use the usermod command to modify the user login...
use the usermod command to modify the user login shell like this

# usermod -s /bin/bash

which usually changes the usr's login shell and set-up the new .bashrc profile for the new login shell

or u can type something like this: # cat...
or u can type something like this:

# cat /dev/null > filename

where "filename" is the file u want to empty at one shot :D
