Well, I think I should be able to boot off the mirror disk without removing the primary disk, after all, I can do that with Windows XP, which is the 3rd disk in the system.
But I did try that anyway...

It boots fine off primary disk but having issues booting off the mirror disk.

There shouldn't be a restriction on root. Can you ssh as a non root user?

Does it prompt you for a password? Try running ssh -v -v -v

I got a regular user to work with rsh... I think it was a DNS problem where an IP address was not resolving.

I cannot get root to rsh no matter what I do, even if I put "+" in /.rhosts file.

Strange. The following worked a few times but...
Strange. The following worked a few times but then stopped. It only worked as a regular user, but not as root.

rsh <target_IP> -l <login> <command>

Nothing seems to have changed.......

rsh authentication problems
I am using rsh and other R commands to login to a machine.
On that target machine, I set up $HOME/.rhosts file with the host/password.
I also setup /etc/hosts.equiv fiel with IP...
