Search Results

How do i determine what the end of the line character is in a text file. for eg. is it \n or \f or \t etc..

Is there a unix command for this?

Current field length : 361 bytes

To the record , i am appending the filename and hard-coding batchid.

The record length has increased from 361 to 400 and since i will continue to get both...

current dir :
/home/sales

ls -l

abc.txt 17th aug
bcd .txt 16t oct
-------
------
Total files : 100

if i want to move only those files dated 17 aug into another sub directory ...

We keep getting production files into an input directory.

These files will be processed three times a day.

I have a tab delimited file of record length 250.

since i dont have a tool like vedit, how do i check what's there between 230-235 bytes.

If i open it in VI editor everything appears topsy...

If my ls -l results in 1000 lines and i just want to see the last few lines in the list what arguments do i pass


eg lets say i want to see only the last 5 lines of 'ls -l' result
