I am using SUSE OS and want to check internet connection...
I have tried:
ping -c3 google.com
The output i have got is:
Unknown host google.com

does it means that i do not have Internet...

yes, zypper search telnet has given me the output as:
package telnet-server ....
has installed in my OS.

But when i tried:
zypper install telnet-server
i got error as:
Please...

I mean is there any other way to make use of telnet?

right,i think i have not installed server (telnetd) and also in the dir
/etc/xinetd.d there is no file with telnet name.

and the output i got is:
telnet-1.2-14.4

So,it means telnet package has been installed in my OS then
why i am not able to use telnet?

what do you mean by utility? Does it means some iostat packages has not been installed on my server?

While executing the following command i am getting output as command not found.
iostat
output: command not found

Also, man iostat is displaying "NO Manual Entry"

One last doubt sir,

When i used : rpm -qa| grep -i "*ftp*"
I didn't get any output then i thought ftp server has not installed, but now i have used : rpm -qa|grep ftp and the output i got is...

I think you are right ftp server is not installed because i tried :

rpm -qa|grep -i "*ftp*"

i didn't get any output.

But still my doubt is if ftp is refused...
