anybody know of a good Freeware ping sweeper for Solaris, I've been given the job of finding active IP's on the network, would like a tool which can search for range or address's do...

the NT guys told me it didn't exist, obviously not on the msce course

I've been looking into the DNS issue here what I got, I added a logical interface with the ip 1.1.1.1

cofdr01 > ifconfig hme0 addif 1.1.1.1 up
Created new logical interface hme0:1

added...

check on the network switch what the port is set too, it may not match

check your network settings, it could be you are using the wrong ones, find out what speed your network is.

You may find your set to full duplex instead of half or 10mb instead of 100mb

with /etc/nsswitch.conf forcing the system to look in files then dns
but the system ignores the files and goes off check the dn servers

I got to configure a SBUS HBA to talk to a tape robot.

I have done this on a switch but not point to point.

I've got to the point of uploading the image I can get it to boot but can't edit config.annex.

Anyone set up Annex Terminal Server on Solaris 8

rcp works recursively you'll need to look into .rhost

a tar and compress followed by and ftp would probably do you the best

load it and try, HP released 11i to compete in the internet server industry so I see no reason why. I have just finished a 2 year contract with HP and the company is really going for the web...

look up .netrc files for automated ftp also look into scp part of the ssh tools.

samba could also be used as could the freeware winrar which can read tar files.

I've got a E6500 with 6 cpu's over 3 cpu boards.

we lost one cpu should the box keel over ??

I wouldn't have seen this as a Single Point Of Failure

it depends on the format on the tape.

what format are the tapes written in ??

DD, CPIO, TAR UFSDUMP ???.

can you issue mt commands to the drive like rewind etc ??
