I replaced a HP Superstore Dat 40 with another HP Superstore Dat 40, but my backupedge software keeps putting up error code 1 (device not found) I have tried reinstaling the drive as DAT Alad stp 0 6 0 0. I'm not a computer expert but willing to have a go. I went into Backupedge to try and format a new tape to see if device working, and got message cannot open /dev/rstp0 .

Did you set the jumpers/dip switches on the tape to device 6. (Dip switch 2 and 3 on)
Type <ctrl-a> during the boot-up when prompted, you will then be able to see the scsi id of all devices attached to the controller. Now that you have run mkdev tape several times, you should make sure that you only have one tape configured. |
