Openserver 6 & using a NEC DVD Writer

I'm trying to configure Openserver 6 with a NEC DVD writer to use as a backup - the DVD writer was originally installed as /dev/cd0 and installed the operating system.

How do I mount the DVD writer and what command and mount point should I use?

What program is available to support writing to the drive or do I use 'cp' or 'backup' to copy the files?

I've currently got a blank dvd in the drive and when I try to mount I get a response of:

WARNING CD ROM DRIVER HA2 TC0 LU0 CHECK CONDITION A 'ILLEGAL REQUEST' condition has been detected. Additional sata = "ILLEGAL MODE FOR THIS TRACK"

Any ideas anyone please!

Cdrecord

Thanks for that!

Got the basics moving now but I'm struggling to try and make several backups to one CD/DVD.

Think I need to use -multi but I'm using -sao (Only format supported!) & I'm wondering if there's a conflict with the two commands

For example:
use mkisofs to make image-
mkisofs -r -J -l -L -o /file.iso /directorytobackup

then-
cdrecord -v -sao -eject -multi file.iso

At this stage I get a 'cannot send CUE sheet' response on Cds and previously written DVDs. Any ideas anyone? Am I using the correst process under OSE6?

Thanks in advance!
