login problem at console

I am running sco 5.06 open server

We have encountered the problem while login into the live Online server. After putting the usr as root, the system is taking time(20 Sec) to show me ‘Password:’. Sometimes the system shows login time out. Again sometimes the system is showing password:, after putting the root password I can log in.

I have includes more information here

1. this is happening for all usrs

2. this is happening not only at console (at server) but also at telnet ( see the attached)

3. to logout the system also taking time (15sec)

4. I can easily execute the ftp function from one pc to online server. It is not taking time to access at online server by using ftp. After putting the root, the system shows password for root and easily login.

This is very urgent and expecting quick response from you.
