Those PhD's couldn't figure this out for themselves? How lame. Another moral might be:

Well, in fairness. What i have observed in most labs is that the senior people who write papers, tour, entertain the customer, etc. don't have much time to actually do much of the work, especially the experimental side of theoretical physics.

On the other hand, it does seem quite elementary not to use aluminium to house a thermo-optical test measurement using a laser to measure dn/DT.

I am not that clever, so now I realize why it was so embarrassing to the senior guys, hahaha.

Next, I'll tell a story I will call "The Mystery of the Man with the Green Hands and Face".... another lab rat story with very big political implications that eventually made the newspapers. Another one of my many political mistakes in the world of science and engineering
