Question Redhat Ent 3... vsftpd...

Hi all,

Thanks in advance for any posts and for reading...

We are running in the process of going live on an Oracle RAC cluster using linux redhat ent 3. Anyhow I need to push out an install for Vertias Netbackup. The normal push doesn't seem to work, but those nice people at veritas have written a nice script to FTP all the relevant files to the box. The problem is that I need to be able to FTP out.

I have been trying to enable vsftpd. I consulted te following Redhat documentation to get it enabled:

Redhat network

Essentially I did the following to enable the access with defaults:

Quote:
#chkconfig vsftpd on
Quote:
#service vsftpd start
Anyhow it now turns out that the service is locked. I get the following:

Quote:
vsftpd dead but subsys locked
The problem is that the redhat documentation Redhat Documenation says that I should kill all the processes. Apparently when you do a
Quote:
#service vsftpd status
it checks the pid for the exe file against the file in /var/lock/subsys/vsftpd. Problem is that I carn't kill any of the process or find the process in the top.

Anyone got any ideas for getting round this?

Thanks again in advance for any posts and for reading..
