No one can provide a sensible answer for a question like that so it probably doesn't matter. But most homework isn't that goofy.

I suppose that the guy is charged with creating some bookkeeping script where data center costs are spread over customers (internal customers?) by some key based on used diskspace, processor cycles, etc..

Still i am not going to answer there. This is The UNIX and Linux Forums - Learn UNIX and Linux from Experts and i am a systems administrator. The way he states his question is only suitable for www.psychic.com where the moderators are all certified telepaths.

There are proper tools for resource accounting/management for this but perhaps the requestor is not aware (or their management)?

Good point. I think the poster may have not known how to communicate their question. Perhaps English was not their native language?
