Did not know about logical volumes

I had just updated - reinstalled - my RH9 to a Fedore Core 3.
I did not know about the Logical volumes that automatically combined partitions on drive 1 and 2 into one mounted volume. In my attempts to do something with the hdb2 partition - not knowing that it was already in use - I killed my installation.

I went happily on the way to reinstall - I had not lost anything but some time and learned a lot. But now I thought that maybe others could learn from that one too and so I wrote a seried of post on http://forum.WeDoLinux.com describing all the steps I took to get from a fresh install to a system in which I can work.

This series will be extended as I go. It is specific to my hardware and other setup but I'm sure that it might help other with things like
nvidia drivers
Gnome to Desktop switch including the login screen
installing with yum
customizing the system
second hard drive
samba
etc

so - head overr to http://forum.wedolinux.com and see it it helps.

This doesnt make sense. Why are you redirecting people to another forum to learn about Linux? That's one of the features of this forum!

Yet it doesn't actually break any of the Rules.
