Column reorganizing

Hallo Fiends,

I have a .csv file which has 2 columns. 1st Column is the RATE and second is Destination. The 2 columns are separated by ,

Here is the example of how the file looks now:

Code:
2.35,38022|38038|38039|38044|38050|38057|3806|380700|38091|38093|38095|38096|38097|38098|38099
1.67,380
8.63,380623430|380623431|3809003011|3809003055|3809003099
1.42,971529|97155
1.29,97150|97156

I would like the file to look like below:

Code:
2.35,38022
2.35,38038
2.35,38039
2.35,38044
2.35,38050
2.35,38057
2.35,3806
2.35,380700
2.35,38091
2.35,38093
2.35,38095
2.35,38096
2.35,38097
2.35,38098
2.35,38099
1.67,380
8.63,380623430
8.63,380623431
8.63,3809003011
8.63,3809003055
8.63,3809003099

How about
Code:
awk -F, '{n=split($2,T,"|"); for (i=1; i<=n; i++) print $1,T[i]}' OFS="," file

Another approach:
Code:
awk -F"[,|]" '{for(i=2;i<=NF;i++)print $1 "," $i}' file

Hi,
Sed version:
Code:
sed -e ':lp' -e '/|/s/\([^,]*,\)\([^|]*\)|/\1\2\n\1/' -e 't lp' file

A couple of golf contributions.

A shorter, more portable, label-less (not that there's anything at all wrong with labels) sed approach:
Code:
sed 's/\([^,]*,\)\([^|]*\)|/\1\2\
\1/;P;D'

A gsub-based AWK solution:
Code:
awk -F, '1+gsub(/\|/,RS$1FS)'

Alister
