fedora core 6 not supported for acer lcd monitor

hi all

i brought a new acer 17" widescreen lcd monitor . fedora core linux 6 in not displaying on the monitor . giving a error input not supported

please let me know wht i can do

press ctrl + alt +f1

enter username and password and try # X -configure
for automatic x configuration

then enter init 3 and call the command displayed on the screen with the new generated config file

if this works copy the new config file to /etc/X11/xorg.conf , but backup the old one
