Ping check failed from Nagios master server on windows hosts in the same subnet
Hello All,

We have added a windows host and its config files to Nagios master server and wanted to do a ping check alone at the moment however, the nagios master server identifies the host in its GUI and immediately disappears can anyone let me know the right approach to this one, We want to monitor 100 windows servers for the ping check alone and do not want to install the nagios agent or plugin on them, does the ping check work without installing the nagios agent on the windows clients?

ping is disabled on windows servers by default I think as of Server 2003. Turn on ping.


What do you mean by "disappear"?

Nagios master server is CentOS and few clients are linux, just added a windows box for ping check alone, do we need to install nagios client on the windows box to check if the windows host is up or not? Initially it was being listed in the GUI of nagios master server for few minutes and vanished after a while.
