Netbackup Installation

Hello all. I have a HP-UX 11.11 system that I need to install Netbackup 6.5 onto. After I mount the cd drive and run the 'install' command, it comes back with the following error:

usage: install [options] file [dir1 ...]

WHAT options is it talking about? When I look at the documentation from Netbackup, it doesn't mention anything about switches. Does anyone know what it's asking for?

You can run "man install" to get the details on the HP-UX install command. But your problem is that you probably should be running another command also called "install". Either your installation instructions are wrong or you have not followed them carefully. You probably should have either modified your PATH so that you find the supplied "install" script, or you should have invoked it with an explicit path. Since I don't have your instructions I have no way of knowing which it is.

The normal way to install software on HPUX is by installing *.depot files using "sam".

The "install" program is a much lower level program.

I don't get this. The Netbackup install guide simply says: Mount CD and run 'install' I've done that so I don't know what else it's looking for.

You may have been picking up the one from the PATH.

Is there an install script on the CD?

If so then

cd /cdrom-mountpoint
./install
