swinstall
Hi,
I am new to HP-UX. I am attempting some pre-requisites to an Oracle upgrade, part of which requires some OS patching. When I check using show_patches or swlist -l patch the patches do not exist. On visiting ItResource web page I see the patches and later "recommended" patches (that unlike Solaris have a completely different number). I add each patch (recommended) and download. Unzip the patches to /tmp/patches and run the "create depot" script all OK. Following the instructions in the README I remove patch files under /tmp/patches leaving depot folder etc. On running swinstall -x match_target=true -s localhost:/tmp/patches/depot I get the error:- ======= 11/15/06 14:30:41 GMT BEGIN swinstall SESSION (non-interactive) (jobid=ps-dev-0118) * Session started for user "root@ps-dev". * Beginning Selection * Target connection succeeded for "ps-dev:/". * Source connection succeeded for "localhost:/tmp/patches/depot". NOTE: The match operation failed to find software in the source that matches software on the target. NOTE: Cannot continue the "swinstall" task. ======= 11/15/06 14:30:44 GMT END swinstall SESSION (non-interactive) (jobid=ps-dev-0118) Is it simply telling me the patches are installed (which I am sure they are not) ? OS/patch level HP-UX ps-dev B.11.11 U 9000/800 859980671 unlimited-user license Any help much appreciated Thanks Malc Last edited by malcqv; 11-15-2006 at 08:15 AM. |

NOTE: The match operation failed to find software in the source that
matches software on the target. The source are your patches. The target is your OS. They do not match. Since your OS is 11.11, you must have some patches for 11.0 or 10.20 or something. Very cool avatar, btw! Is that some official new Sun logo? |

Thanks Perderabo, I will look again at the patches, maybe apply a couple at a time instead of all.
The avatar I think came from the developers area. Can't say if it is the new logo, but I do like it. |
