Office tool for HP-UX 11.0 ?

Hi Experts,

I am facing a problem in opening the office files like *.doc, *.ppt , *.xls etc in HP Unix.
How do I do this? Is the software available , If yes is it freely available or Do I need to buy it ?

These files are problem to open in anything other software than MS office. The best MS compatibile software is StarOffice or OpenOffice.

Try to compile OpenOffice on HP-UX [but you need compiler which is not in standard instalation - you can find GNU compiler for HP-UX on the Net]

If I'm not mistaken, they have Star Office available for HP-UX. I've installed it in Linux and Solaris. Check out Sun site. Another place to look for good Office suites is www.tucows.com. Smilie HTH, later.
