Hi
I plan to buy HP unix system from ebay for learning purpose. Would like to know if any HP UX version is freeware or available for download. Thanks GRR |

I am afraid to disappoint you but most of HP-UX is not available for free.
Albeit, I know that I periodically receive CD sets (we have a contract) of which one set is marked as OE Core OS. Afaik, you can install this Core Operating Environment release without requiring a license. But I don't know if this image can be downloaded at all, or how you can acquire a CD set if you don't happen to have a SW support contract. |

Buff is correct as far as my experience and media goes... however as far as purchasing used boxes for learning. Most of those guys will load it with a recent release of HPUX for you on purchase. Try for 11.11 if given a choice.

That media kit is $565 which seems pretty high since no license is included. A installation manual and a very few other docs come with it. I have a pile of letters on my desk from HP. Each one has a piece of paper with a box that I must manually check. Then I put the piece of paper in the prepaid envelope and send it back to HP. Each one that I check and send back is a media kit that will arrive. I'll probably stop at 5 or 6. But you never know... |
