Reason to keep old /var/opt/perf/datafiles/logproc files

Would there be a reason to keep old logproc files that have been tarred up for any longer than a few days?

There should only be one logproc file - no backups or .tar files.
Logproc file filling ever with very high threshold suggests to adjust the size in /var/opt/perf/parm to e.g.
process=10 (Megabytes).
