HP UX 11 CDE errors

Hi Guys

I just setup UNIX 11i with CDE on my server and whenever i try to log on it comes up with the following :

Action required!

The desktop messaging system could not be started
To correct the problem:

1) Choose [OK] to return to the logon screen

2) Select failsafe Session from the logon screen's option menu and log in

3) Check to see that the desktop is properly installed, the hostname is
correct (/etc/hosts/) and that the network is properly configured

I am new to UNIX. Can anyone please help out with this?

Thanks

CDE can't be started

CDE will not work until you have all of your networking set up properly. Make sure you system can resolve its own hostname. at the gui login prompt look for 'command line login' log in there to fix your networking before booting cde.. use the 'SAM' command to start the admin setups, it should be in the path by default. make sure you can ping sites like www.x.com networking MUST be ok before cde will start
