I am working on a HP-UX PARISC 64 architecture.
I am trying to install RPM but without success.

Has any body successfully installed RPM on the above architecture.

I couldnt find a compatible depot file.

I tried to compile the source code for rpm-4.0 package.

All the dependencies are installed.

I am compiling using gcc for hp-ux.

But i get an error .

Make: Don't know how to make ). Stop.


I have traced it to the 'make' in the lib directory.

I have attached the output of make in the file "makelog"
The contents of the "rpm-4.0/lib" directory in :"filelist"
And The makefile of the "rpm-4.0/lib" directory.

Any body please help.

i seems to have a related problem.actually my make didnt even reach the earlier mentioned level.please check if anyone can help
makefile is 'Makefile.txt'
make o/p file is 'makeop.txt'
i am working on HPUX PA-RISC machine only

hi all,
i was able to remove the earlier error that i had specified.
Now i came to the same point that SJCEKK specified.
guys, anyone if has been through this stage share their experiance.
so the problem is effectively the same ..what SJCEKK told..my make file o/p is also very similar.

got the remedy.Use gmake instead of make..so thts the end of it..
