Sockets

Hi,i now moved into a different section where i need to use sockets.
i am completely nill in sockets.
can some body please provide me what are the requirements for a socket.
to use sockets in c.

This is the gold standard for socket tutorials: Beej's Guide:.
Beej's Guide to Network Programming

If you are getting paid to do network programming get Stevens' books on UNIX Network Programming. Assuming you'd like to keep your job.

UNIX Network Programming Volume 1 & Volume 2.
