Oki ML590 Serial Interface Board Issue

Hi

Had an old ML590 with RS232 serial card that stopped working (spindle that advance ribbon broke) so I purchased a working used on ebay.

Printer powers up and seems fine. Put serial board from old printer in working ebay unit but no printing happens.

Does anyone know if there are any jumpers or switches needing attention in printer that never had this board in it before?

We're running SCO Unix with Real World accounting. I know there are port setups in Unix but I was thinking that this new printer should just work with board slipped in.

Any knowledge out there?

Thanks

The spif driver provides support for the Sun Serial/Parallel Interface card (Sun part number 501-1931), which is based on the Cirrus Logic CD180 octal serial controller and the Cirrus Logic PPC2 parallel port controller. The device minor numbers for this driver are encoded as follows: +---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+ | 7 | 6 | 5 | 4 | 3 | 2 | 1 | 0 | +---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+ | | | | | | | | | | | | | +---+---+---> port number | | | | | | | | | +---------------> unused | | | | | | | +-------------------> dial-out (on tty ports) | | | | | +-----------------------> unused | | +---+---------------------------> card number Up to four cards are supported in the system. Each of the serial ports has an 8 byte FIFO for receive and transmit as well as automatic hardware (RTS/CTS) flow control. FILES
