Basic MD5 Question
Does an MD5 checksum of a file remain the same if the file name changes? Any good reading about MD5 checksum out there?

Yes, provided the data in the file is the same the checksum is the same.

Here's a good reading about MD5, take a look at the "Algorithm" section.
